Off the Grid Development

Property development in is not easy. Infrastructure if often the most expensive component of a new development. Roads, drainage, water, waste, electricity etc. The structures themselves are often relatively cheap by comparison.

Developments are increasingly turning to green, off-the-grid technology to support the building of new developments. In addition to being the environmentally right thing to do, it is often a necessity based on the location and the stability of the current local infrastructure. Many of these technologies are still new, so cost is still a very important factor in many instances, however with increasing worldwide energy demands and prices on older and antiquated technology is making the choice easier and easier in addition to the marketing benefits. Plus, for example in law 306 makes all capital investments tax deductible on developments related to tourism. This dramatically helps reduce the burden on the development costs when it comes to making these types of investments.

Starting soon, we are going to begin doing regular posts about off the grid technologies that are currently being used or that could be used in creating new self sustaining developments in or any developing nation (or really any place for that matter). In addition to the internal research we are doing, I would like to ask for you help! We are looking to hear from land developers, technology developers or simply interested parties that know about technologies being used, or that could be used to help developments in become more self sufficient, and safer on the environment.
